My Attempt at Colour Blocking

Ring: H&M; Nail Polish: Yellow nail effects

Ring: H&M
Top: TK Maxx; Skirt: TK Maxx; Belt: Vintage

Hey everyone, just wanted to share with you my own attempt at colour blocking and how easy it is to pair together colours. I love orange so when I saw this top in the sale, I just had to get it. It reminds me of the 60's and the colour of the skirt just pops. I think that blue and orange are a really good colour combo. I am wearing this with plain black tights as I did not want to go OTT on the colour. Wear this with some funky chunky wedges and the outfit is complete. The accessories are pretty simple, ring that matches the skirt and a black ring in the shape of a panther's face with shocking bright yellow nails.
Let me know what you think of my outfit of the day and show me some of your own attempts at colour blocking, I'd love to see them!

The Beauty of Yoghurt!

Did you know that yoghurt not only tastes great but you can use it on your hair and on your face too? Yoghurt has the ability to diminish pore size, improve skin texture and promote hair growth as well as leaving your skin with a beautiful, healthy looking glow. So forget those moisturisers that 'enhance your beauty', yoghurt is cheaper and works even better!

To use on the face, just get yourself some natural yoghurt (NOT FLAVOURED!) and apply to your face. Leave for around 10-15mins (until the mask is dry) and then wash off with lukewarm water. As soon as you wash the mask away, you will see and feel the difference in your skin. It literally feels like you've absorbed a pint of water, your skin feels plump and glows. I do this about 1-2 times a week, it feels so good!

To use on the hair, take some more natural yoghurt (3-4 tbsp) and add a tbsp of olive oil and mix together, then apply this straight on to your hair. Leave for 15-20 mins to let the yoghurt work in to the hair and then wash away. Shampoo and condition as normal. Your hair will be left feeling stronger and more shiny. I do this once a week and my hair has never felt stronger.

If you suffer from frizzy hair then add one egg to 4 tbspn of yoghurt and mix well. Massage into the hair and leave for 10-15 mins and rinse off. This conditioner softens the hair and brings it to life.

Oh and don't forget to make yoghurt a part of your diet too. Chop up fruit and add some honey and voilĂ , a perfect breakfast!

Enjoy and let me know if you've tried this!

Clearer skin with... TURMERIC!

Hi everyone, so it was day 2 of Barefoot Sound Waves 2012 and again I am absolutely shattered from working but it was a very successful day and there was a great act to end the 2-day mini festival!
I came home and looked in the mirror to find my skin looking a little bit dull and drained because I was tired so I decided to give myself a pick-me-up face mask that helps make my skin look and feel better. My mumma taught me this trick who learnt it from her mum (old indian recipe apparently!) but it does the trick for me. So here's what you'll need:

Chickpea flour
Milk
Turmeric Powder
Almond Oil
Bowl and spoon

1. Take 2 heaped tablespoonfuls of Chickpea flour into a bowl
2. Add half a teaspoon of the turmeric powder to the bowl
3. Add just over a teaspoon of almond oil to the bowl
4. Add a little bit of milk at a time to the mixture, constantly stirring the mixture so the milk is absorbed by the powder. Keep adding a dash of milk until the mixture becomes a smooth paste, but don't make it runny or too thick!
Apply this paste as a mask to a clean, freshly washed face, NO MAKE UP, in a nice even layer.
Wait for 20 mins- the mask will get hard. Then wash it off with warm water.

My Indian family use this mask a lot because turmeric has so many benefits for the skin, including the treatment of acne blemishes, blackheads, dark spots and hyper pigmentation and other skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis. It helps heal and prevent dry skin, and to slow the skin aging process, and is used to diminish wrinkles, keep skin supple and improve skin’s elasticity. This sunny bright spice is also being used as an ingredient in sunscreens. It is used daily by East Indian women as a facial cleanser and exfoliant.

If you suffer from oily skin (like I do!) turmeric also helps to regulate the production of sebum, an oily substance produced by the sebaceous glands.

So there you have it. Turmeric- the best spice you'll ever use (in curries and on your face!). Let me know if you've tried it out and if it worked for you!

Barefoot Sound Waves 2012

Well, today has been a very busy day! I was helping out my friend with their 'mini festival' on top of a cliff in Cornwall. Lots of people and some amazing music going on today and it's going to happen all again tomorrow and I can't wait.
I feel so grateful to be able to call Cornwall my home. On my way back to the car this evening, this was the view I was subject to... I wish I had a HD camera to capture the real beauty of the sunset this evening. Absolutely breathtaking. It feels so good to be home.

Spring 2012

The worst thing I find about fashion trends when you see them on the cat walk is that a lot of them can be so unwearable! I cringe whenever I see girls on the street who take whatever they've seen on the catwalk and wear it the same way on the street (just not as well). A lot of the time it is impossible to pull this off unless you are a catwalk model yourself.

However, this season saw some beautiful spring trends that are incredibly wearable, which is very exciting. As well as seeing some more of the sun, we are seeing bold statement prints and new colour combinations, including my favourite; Colour Blocking- but be careful, don't get carried away with too many colours or else you will look like the wierd rainbow girl, stick to maybe 2 or 3 different block colours and you will be bang on trend!
